Library Snapshot Day

Event Date(s)

Begins: February 13, 2019 9:00 am
Ends: February 13, 2019 5:00 pm

The Volusia County Public Library system’s 13 library branches are participating in Library Snapshot Day Feb. 13 by collecting statistics, comments and photographs from a typical day, showing how patrons are using their libraries.

“We invite residents to stop by to use computers, check out materials, attend a program, visit with library staff, and share their thoughts,” said Activity Project Manager Karen Poulsen. “By being a part of Library Snapshot Day, they can help us demonstrate the profound impact our libraries have on our community.”

During last year’s snapshot day, 6,700 people visited a Volusia County public library and checked out 7,807 items. Reference librarians answered 991 questions, and staff issued 62 library cards. Other findings include:

  • 536 patrons used public-use computers, and 257 were taught computer skills.
  • 257 children, 155 adults and 37 young adults attended programs.
  • The day also saw 6,742 web site visits, 2,216 Wi-Fi users and 1,043 computer sessions.
