Local attorney and author Mike Pyle will discuss his new book, “Cuban Roots,” at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Daytona Beach Regional Library, 105 E. Magnolia Ave.
The historical novel focuses on Luis Morales, an 84-year-old lawyer who was born in Cuba and lives in Miami. While visiting the island nation, he discusses his interpretation of Cubans’ feelings about Fidel Castro’s death and makes some enemies. After being hounded and attacked, he suffers a medical crisis and relives the good and bad experiences of his youth in his beloved homeland.
Pyle began writing the book 30 years ago and has traveled across Cuba, interviewing people, visiting museums and performing research. The Institute of Cuban History in Havana has invited him twice to present the book at its annual international symposium.
After his presentation, Pyle will sign books and the Friends of the Daytona Beach Library will conduct a short business meeting. Light refreshments will be served.
Reservations are not required. For more information, call 386-257-6036, option 4.
