Event Date(s)

Begins: February 2, 2020 1:30 pm
Ends: February 2, 2020 2:30 pm

Celebrate Groundhog Day by learning the differences between the non-native groundhog and the Florida native pocket gopher. These underground architects build complex burrows with multiple chambers for storing food, nesting, and hibernating. They even have separate bathroom areas in their burrows. After a brief classroom presentation, the group will stroll through Lyonia Preserve to look for evidence of pocket gopher activity.

Advance registration is required; call 386-789-7207, ext. #21028.

Meet in Lyonia Environmental Center's classroom, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona.
