Backyard birds

Learn about some of the more uncommon birds that frequent Volusia County during a free presentation at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd.

Local author Marcia Meara will discuss some of the birds that are less common, migratory, more secretive or harder to spot during part two of her backyard bird series. A Q-and-A session will follow her presentation

DeBary Hall Historic Site, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is owned by the state and managed by the county’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Division. Tours of the 1871 mansion are available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission prices are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for children 2 and younger.
