Fake news” has been making headlines lately, but it’s actually nothing new. Misinformation and hoaxes have been disseminated for centuries.

Sharing examples from past and present, librarian Sandy Hutchins will explore the history of fake news at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the DeLand Regional Library, 30 E. Howry Ave.

She will offer tips on finding reputable sources online and explain how to identify misinformation, hoaxes, propaganda and satire.
