Denys hosts water quality workshop

Two or more Volusia County Council members may attend a water quality workshop from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 21, hosted by Vice Chair Deb Denys in the Dennis R. McGee Room at Daytona Beach Regional Airport, 700 Catalina Drive, Daytona Beach.

Panelists will include:

  • Duanne De Freese, executive director of the Indian River Lagoon Council
  • Shailesh Patel, president of Dredging and Marine Consultants
  • Dale Jenkins, bureau chief for the St. Johns River Water Management District
  • Chad Truxall, executive director of the Marine Discovery Center
  • Shanin Speas-Frost, program administrator for the Department of Environmental Protection

They will discuss grant funds available from the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program and other sources. They will also offer advice on preparing for a comprehensive conservation management plan and explain the state/local cost share and practical implementation.

A Q-and-A session will follow the presentations.
