Veterans and Human Services office to relocate

Volusia County will relocate its New Smyrna Beach office for Veterans Services and Human Services to the Florida Department of Health building at 717 W. Canal St. on Monday, Aug. 20.

The office is currently open at 107 E. Canal St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The new office will have the same hours.

The Volusia County Council will celebrate the relocation with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Aug. 20.

According to Community Services Director Dona Butler, the new office will provide enhanced services, including close parking, a bus stop in front of the building, a larger waiting area, and easy access to health services.

Veterans Services counselors assist all former and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their dependents in preparing claims for compensation, hospitalization, vocational training, and other benefits and privileges. For more information, visit www.volusia.org/veterans or call 386-740-5102.

Human Services programs include the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Family Self-sufficiency Program, Health Care Responsibility Act Program, emergency services, indigent burial and cremation, and the summer food service program.
