Summer camp scholarships are available to income-eligible children through Volusia County’s Community Assistance Division, which has added a final date and location to accept applications.
Parents can submit their completed applications from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the Florida Department of Health, 1845 Holsonback Drive, Daytona Beach. Applications will be available at the site; they are also posted online at www.volusia.org/community_assistance/applications.
Families with children who are entering grades 1-6 and are between the ages of 5 and 12 may apply for scholarships. Students up to 17 years old who will be attending approved special needs camps are also are eligible.
Scholarship awards are for a portion of the camp’s weekly registration fees, are based on income-eligibility, and will be awarded according to funding availability.
Applicants must live in Volusia County and show their child’s current report card and proof of household size. Applicants must also have copies of all income received for the last 30 days, which staff will need to keep. Proof of income may include two biweekly pay stubs, four weekly pay stubs, a current award letter from Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability, a child support history printout, documented assistance from others, a self-employed work calendar, or a profit and loss statement.
