JAG funds available for nonprofits and cities

Volusia County has received an award of $150,129 from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Countywide from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Applications are being accepted from nonprofit organizations and local cities that do not receive a direct annual allocation of JAG funding.

Eligible programs include law enforcement; crime labs and forensics; crime prevention; prosecution, indigent defense and courts; corrections and community corrections; re-entry services; behavioral health assessment and evaluation; and victim and witness services.

Applications are available online at or by calling Jennifer Edgington or Dawna Parent Phillips at 386-736-5956. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Oct. 15.
