Volusia County’s Historic Preservation Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Museum of Arts & Sciences, 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach. The meeting is free and open to the public. Regular admission price applies for museum exhibits.
Members and staff will discuss state historic marker efforts including the new markers at the Volusia County Historic Courthouse, review a recent meeting on the Volusia County Commercial Space Supply Chain Characterization, and elect officers for the upcoming term.
The Historic Preservation Board is appointed by the Volusia County Council to issue certificates of designation for eligible historic resources such as structures, archaeological sites and historic districts; and certificates of appropriateness for demolition, alteration, relocation and new construction. The board advises the County Council on matters related to historic preservation policy, including use, management and maintenance of county-owned historic resources.
