DeLand library shows outer space flicks

The DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave., will show four films that are “out of this world” in June.

The free movies include:

“First Man”: 1:15 p.m. Sunday, June 2. This 2018 film tells the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961 to 1969. Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy star. Rated PG-13, 141 minutes.

“Fifth Element”: 1 p.m. Friday, June 7. A 23rd century cabbie and an alien try to save the world from a raging fireball that's on a collision course with Earth. Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Chris Tucker and Milla Jovovich star. Rated PG-13, 126 minutes.

“Fight for Space”: 1 p.m. Friday, June 21. This 2016 documentary explores the past, present and future of the U.S. Space Program while making the argument that space exploration brings economic and cultural benefits to the nation. Rated G, 92 minutes.

“Serenity”: 1 p.m. Friday, June 28. The crew of a space freighter hides a fugitive from a totalitarian regime in 26th century outer space. Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Alan Tudyk star. Rated PG-13, 119 minutes.
