Are you overwhelmed by the 24/7 demands of the digital world? Get back to your roots with calming crafts. Whether you knit, sew, color or do your own thing, crafts can reduce stress, build manual dexterity, sharpen the mind, and foster pride as you develop new skills.

The Daytona Beach Regional Library, 105 E. Magnolia Ave., offers a variety of free craft programs, including:

  • Craft swap: 10 to 11 a.m. the first Monday of every month. Meet fellow crafters and exchange supplies you no longer want for something new.
  • Happy Hookers: 2 to 4 p.m. every Wednesday. This group gets together to socialize and spin yarns as they knit and crochet.
  • Stitch Along with Us: 4 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Bring a sewing project and use one of the library’s three sewing machines. If you need help getting started, staff or experienced sewers will be happy to lend a hand.
  • Adult coloring: 10 a.m. to noon every Friday. Coloring isn’t just for kids. Unleash your creativity with coloring pages, colored pencils and markers provided by library staff.
  • Maker meetings: 9 a.m. to noon. Join other makers to share your ideas and projects, or build something new. Each week features a different project. Teenagers and adults are welcome.

Give crafting a try. You may even find that it keeps you from unraveling!

Registration is not required. For more information, call the library’s Launch Pad at 386-257-6036, ext. 16314.
