For anyone interested in learning how to sew, there’s no substitute for the hands-on approach. And now you’ll have the chance, thanks to the Friends of the DeLand Library. On Thursday, Nov. 21, the DeLand Regional Library is kicking off a new sit & sew class. Participants will learn how to use a sewing machine along with some basic stitches and they’ll even get to make a coaster. The program is free of charge.
The class is being taught by a library staff member, with four sewing machines the Friends of the DeLand Library recently purchased for library programs. The class will start at 1 p.m. at the library, 130 E. Howry Ave. To reserve a spot in the class, call 386-822-6430, ext. 20762.
The library is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
