Boaters will soon be able to use the first and only public boat ramp on the Volusia County side of Lake George.
The Volusia County Council will cut the ribbon for Shell Harbor Park, 1800 Shell Harbor Road, Pierson, at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5.
In addition to the public boat ramp, the nine-acre park includes a kayak launch, floating dock, pavilion, restroom, and an asphalt parking lot. The property was donated to Volusia County by local landowners in 2013.
The $2 million construction project was funded by a $400,000 ECHO grant and a $160,699 Florida Inland Navigation District grant, along with park impact fees and Florida Boating Improvement Program fees.
