February adult programs at the NSB library

The New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway, has a full lineup of free programs in February to help adults learn new skills and make new friends.

Upcoming programs include:

  • Genealogy assistance: 1 to 3 p.m. every Monday. Library volunteer Carolyn Carlisle will offer assistance on using the library’s free databases, which include Ancestry Library Edition, Heritage Quest, America’s Historical Newspapers and Fold 3.

  • Ballroom dancing lessons: 5 p.m. every Tuesday. Members of the NSB Dance Club will provide instruction on the cha-cha for singles and couples. 

  • Qigong: 5:30 p.m. Thursdays. Certified instructor Ann Minoff will lead the classes with gentle physical movements, mental focus and meditation.

  • Birds of the beach: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4. Don Picard, president of the Southeast Volusia Audubon Society, will discuss the fascinating birds that grace Volusia County’s beaches.

  • Knitting and crocheting: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb 19. Bring a knitting or crochet project to stitch away the time with others.

  • Create unique jewelry: 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb 20. Bring your own materials and tools. Jewelry and supplies cannot be sold, but swapping and sharing are encouraged.

The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information on adult programming, call the library at 386-424-2910, option 4.
