At its core, the best-selling novel “Everything I Never Told You” by Celeste Ng is all about family. And one way to preserve family memories and mementos is with a scrapbook. The art of scrapbooking will be shared with the public during an upcoming program at the Daytona Beach Regional Library scheduled for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Tara O’Gorman, a photo solutions specialist with Energetic Solutions, will be on hand to explain how to create a scrapbook to maintain memories. Participants will even be able to create a page during the class to take home. Because supplies are limited, registration is required for this class through www.volusialibrary.org. More information can be obtained by calling the library, 105 E. Magnolia Ave., at 386-257-6036.
The scrapbooking class is part of this year’s NEA Big Read program, which is intended to encourage community reading through programs designed around a single book. The Volusia County Public Library system received a $15,000 NEA Big Read grant and selected the Celeste Ng novel as its title. The Volusia County Council matched that grant with an additional $15,000. The library system’s branches and other venues are hosting more than 130 programs such as book discussions, author talks, concerts and informative presentations based on the novel. The NEA Big Read program runs from Jan. 25 through Feb. 29.
