Volusia County will continue to keep all vehicular beach access ramps closed indefinitely due to COVID-19. The county encourages people to stay at home and consider self-isolating. Volusia County’s Beach Safety Division will continue to monitor beachgoers to ensure compliance with social distancing guidelines.
Staff is observing the beach, especially in high-populated areas, and will be making adjustments as necessary to reduce the number of people on the beach. The number of available parking spaces in county off-beach parking lots have been reduced and lots could be temporarily closed as circumstances dictate. High tides occur this weekend at mid-day, which decrease the width of our beach.
Boaters should avoid Disappearing Island and other sand bars that attract crowds. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office will closely monitor the ramps and popular boater sites for crowds and congestion. Boat ramps will be closed and sand bars cleared if crowd control and social distancing measures are not followed.
The county continues to emphasize the importance of personal responsibility. The well-being and safety of the community depends on residents and visitors.
