Emergency medical services topic of Friday COVID-19 panel discussion

While safer-at-home orders have been lifted and reopening is under way, fear of COVID-19 still might be keeping people from seeking care at hospitals and emergency rooms. For those who need emergency diagnostic testing or medical care, delaying treatment could have dangerous – even fatal – consequences.

Emergency medical care in the age of COVID-19 will be the topic of this Friday’s (May 22) live panel discussion hosted by Volusia County government. Friday’s event will start at 10 a.m. Panelists will include the following:

  • Dr. Vito Petrozzino, Assistant Medical Director, Emergency Services; Chief of Medicine, AdventHealth - Daytona Beach
  • Dr. Peter Springer, Volusia County Operational Medical Director
  • Dr. Stephen Viel, Medical Director, Emergency Services, Halifax Health

The panel discussion will be broadcast live on Volusia County Emergency Management’s Facebook page at The news media is welcome to attend and participate in the question-and-answer session. For members of the news media who wish to attend, the event will take place at the Volusia County Emergency Operations Center, 3825 Tiger Bay Road, Daytona Beach.
