Extension offers pesticide training Oct. 29

Posted On: September 27, 2021

Pesticide workers can earn up to six continuing education units (CEUs) during Pesticide CEU Day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.

The University of Florida/Volusia County Extension is sponsoring the program, which will have an Old West theme.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Marc Branham, an associate professor in UF’s Department of Entomology and Nematology. A leading authority on fireflies, he will discuss the insects’ habitats, systematics, mating and species diversity.

Other topics include field buffers, new plant selections for the landscape, mitigation pesticide exposure, weed control and common sense landscape tactics.

The $60 fee includes lunch. Advance registration and payment can be made on Eventbrite at https://tinyurl.com/65XY6BZ6. For more information, contact Donna Coriano at 386-822-5778 or dcoriano@ufl.edu.  The number of participants will be limited to allow for social distancing.
