Steve Howell has been a studio potter since 1983. He received a master of fine arts degree from Wichita State University and a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Texas at Austin. He taught ceramics at Penland School of Crafts, Penland, N.C.; and art at Johnson State College, Johnson, Vt.
Howell has won numerous awards, including best of show honors at the DeLand Outdoor Art Festival and the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival. He also received first place for ceramics at the Maitland Art Festival, the Festival of the Masters at Walt Disney World, the Space Coast Art Festival in Cocoa Beach, Baptist Hospital’s Fine Arts & Crafts Show in Miami, and the Wichita Art Museum Spring Show in Kansas.
His works are displayed in numerous permanent collections, including the Walt Disney Co. in Lake Buena Vista; the U.S. Embassy in Camberra, Australia; the Norton Gallery of Art in Palm Beach; the Tampa Museum of Art; and the City of Orlando Art Collection.
