Sea Turtle Safelight Guide Requested
These 5” x 4” cards will allow your guests to view lights through a sea turtle’s eyes. Simply hold the card up to a light and look through the film to determine whether a light is “sea turtle safe.” Lights that aretrue, long wavelength amber should not be visible when looking through the film. Please note this is meant to be an educational tool and not to determine compliance with our sea turtle lighting ordinance. A number equal to or less than 10% of rooms will be the maximum number of cards provided (i.e. if you have 100 rooms, 10 cards will be distributed or 1 card per individual unit/single family residence.) |

Temporarily unavailable - Flashlight Check-Out Program
Red LED flashlights for commercial beach front properties to loan to guests during the sea turtle nesting
season (May-Oct). These flashlights emit a long wavelength red light which is less visible and disruptive to
adult and baby sea turtles. Guests can borrow the lights for nighttime beach walks. Properties can request
lights here or call the Sea Turtle Lighting Program at 386-238-4773 with any questions. Properties will be
provided red flashlights along with guest check-out forms for the guest to sign before receiving the
flashlight. The guest will then return the flashlight once they return to the property. Batteries are not
included and a number equal to or less than 10% of rooms will be the maximum number of lights provided. i.e.
if you have 100 rooms, 10 lights will be distributed.
