State and nationally recognized, award winning program

Better Community Award, 2008

The Volusia Forever program was presented this award by the Board of Directors of the 1000 Friends of Florida for "visionary leadership resulting in protection of the significant environmental, recreation and water resource lands of Volusia County and the Volusia Conservation Corridor."
 


 

County Leadership in Conservation Award, 2006

Volusia County, through the Volusia Forever program, was awarded the second annual County Leadership in Conservation Award in 2006. This competitive national award, presented on behalf of the National Association of Counties and the Trust for Public Land, is given to two counties in each of three categories, based on population size. The categories are small, medium and large. The award was developed to recognize leadership, innovation and excellence by forward-thinking county leaders in local land conservation. Volusia County was given the award for a medium-sized county.


Achievement Award, 2003

This award was presented to the Volusia Forever program by the National Association of Counties in "recognition of an innovative program which contributes to and enhances county government in the United States."
