County, Chamber Alliance provide PPE to local businesses

After distributing 3,500 Personal Protective Equipment starter kits to local businesses in July, Volusia County Economic Development and the Volusia County Chamber Alliance are preparing for a second round of distributions.
As part of the Relaunch Volusia campaign, the county purchased protective equipment in bulk quantities, which the local chambers of commerce are assembling into supply kits. Kits include masks, hand sanitizer and cleaning solution. Products were purchased using CARES Act recovery funds.
“The response to our initial PPE giveaway last month was overwhelmingly positive; many pickup points distributed all their kits before the day even ended!” said the county’s economic development director, Helga van Eckert. “After the first round of distribution, we began receiving notes of thanks and feedback that the kits were serving their intended purpose of aiding businesses in reopening safely. We’re so thankful to the Volusia County Council for allocating funds for this initiative and to the Chamber Alliance for its partnership in these efforts.”
PPE kits will be distributed through the Volusia County Chamber Alliance from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on dates and locations as follows:
- Tuesday, Aug. 25 (East Volusia) - Ocean Center, 1010 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach
- Wednesday, Aug. 26 (West Volusia) - DeLand Elks Lodge #1463, 614 S. Alabama Ave., DeLand
- Thursday, Aug. 27 (Southeast Volusia) - Marine Discovery Center, 520 Barracuda Blvd., New Smyrna Beach
Businesses may receive one kit and must prove eligibility with a business card or hard copy of a business license or utility bill indicating they represent a Volusia County business, as well as sign that they received the product. Businesses may visit any site.
