Volusia County Summer Camp Scholarship Program Information
Scholarships will be available for children, ages 5 through 14, from income-eligible households that reside in Volusia County. Children up to age 17 attending approved special needs camps may be eligible.
Scholarships are awarded per child, based on eligibility and will be awarded based on funding availability. Scholarships are awarded at $80 a week or the full amount of attendance for the chosen camp, if lower than $80. Summer camps with higher weekly rates than $80 a week are still eligible, but the parent is required to pay the difference.
2026 Volusia County Scholarship will apply to camp attendance starting 6/1/2026 and running through 8/7/2026. Please note that campsite terms and dates may differ from this date range.

Foster families do not receive placement priority, but they have more flexible documentation requirements.
- Foster families still submit an application.
- Foster children are reviewed on the same first-come, first-served timeline.
- Required documents for foster children are proof of age and a Letter of Assurance.
The number of scholarships depends on available funding and how families use them. Some children attend all 10 weeks of camp, some attend fewer weeks, and some withdraw. In a typical year, about 600 to 900 children receive scholarships, but the exact number varies.
Special field trip costs and other extra fees are not covered unless they are clearly included in the camp’s standard weekly fee.
If your child is approved:
- You will receive a voucher for each eligible child.
- The voucher includes your child’s name, the scholarship amount, the eligible weeks, and an expiration date.
- Give the voucher to your chosen approved summer camp before the expiration date.
- The camp will complete its portion of the voucher and submit it through the secure upload portal.
- Your child’s camp start date must be a Monday.
- Once your child has registered and started camp with an approved provider, they cannot switch to a different provider.
- A child may be allowed to move between camp locations operated by the same provider, but this requires written pre-approval from the program.
