Surf zones
Below is a list of surfing areas from New Smyrna Beach north to the Volusia/Flagler County line.
The following surf zones are in effect between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. from the Saturday before Memorial Day (late May) through Labor Day (September). All other times of the year surfing is allowed in all areas of the beach.
Lifeguards may close an area to surfers when surfing could pose a hazard to bathers in the area.
Surfing is never permitted within 300 feet from a pier in any direction, or in an area designated for personal watercraft use.
Unincorporated area north of Ormond Beach
- All the unincorporated area north of the City of Ormond Beach
Ormond Beach
- From the centerline extension of the Granada approach extension to the north city limits of Ormond Beach
- From south of the extension of Seminole Avenue to the centerline of the Cardinal approach
- From the centerline of the extension of Harvard Drive south to the city limits
Daytona Beach:
- From the centerline of the Plaza Drive approach to the north city limit of the City of Daytona Beach
- From the centerline of the Hartford Avenue approach to the centerline of the Seaview Avenue approach
- From the centerline of the Main Street approach to 600 feet north excluding the 300-foot "no water activity" area
- From the centerline of the Main Street approach to 700 feet south excluding the 300 foot "no water activity" area
Daytona Beach Shores:
- From 1601 S. Atlantic Ave. south to the centerline extension of the Botefuhr approach
- From 2209 S. Atlantic Ave. south to the centerline extension of the Minerva approach
- From the south edge of Frank Rendon Park to the centerline extension of the Van Avenue approach, excluding the designated personal watercraft area
- From a point 300 feet south of the Sunglow Pier to the extension of the centerline of Emilia Avenue
Wilbur-by-the-Sea
- All the unincorporated area between the City of Daytona Beach Shores and the Town of Ponce Inlet, commonly known as Wilbur-by-the-Sea, excluding the designated personal watercraft area
Ponce Inlet
- All of the Town of Ponce Inlet, excluding the designated personal watercraft area
New Smyrna Beach
- From the Ponce de Leon Inlet to the extension of Esther Street
- From centerline of the extension of 6th Street south to the centerline extension of 24th Avenue
- From the south edge of 27th Avenue Park to the Volusia County line
