Before continuing on to the online application, make sure to have the following ready:
1. Fictitious name registration number will be required for the business name being used.
List of possible exemptions from fictitious name registration:
- Every business must register their name with the State of Florida Division of Fictitious Names unless they meet one of the following exemptions:
- Using full legal name (first and last) in the business name.
- Corporation, Limited Liability Company, or Partnership filed and in good standing with the Division of Corporations.
- Registered or licensed with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulations.
- Registered or licensed with the Florida Department of Health.
- Licensed attorney forming a business for the practice of law.

2. Social Security # or Federal Employer ID # is required per F.S.# 205.0535.
The review process typically takes 1 business day, but may take longer. After all reviews have been completed successfully the Volusia County Revenue Division will send a bill for the Business Tax via email.
