Volusia County Opens New Beachfront Park

Posted On: May 9, 2024

Volusia County opened a new beachfront park on Mother's Day weekend. Sun & Surf Park, 726 N. Atlantic Ave., offers 70 parking spaces, including five ADA spaces. It also features an ADA-accessible beach ramp, a 15-foot wide beachfront boardwalk, showers, bike racks, and landscaping.

The park, which was partially funded by a Volusia ECHO grant, is named after the Sun & Surf Motel that was purchased by Volusia County in 2015.

Additionally, Volusia County has reopened the following beach access points, which were repaired and upgraded following hurricane damage:

  • ADA walkovers at Kingfish Avenue and Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park, both of which are in Bethune Beach
  • Vehicle access ramp at Minerva Road in Daytona Beach
  • Off-beach parking lot at Wisteria Road in Daytona Beach
