Tutor.com Helps Students Who Need Academic Assistance

Posted On: September 27, 2024

Parents, did you know you can get free tutoring assistance for your children if you have a Volusia County Public Library card? Woo hoo!

Your card will allow you to access Tutor.com, an online tutoring company that connects students to tutors in online classrooms. This service offers homework help and test preparation for elementary grades, middle school, high school, and college. A live tutor is available daily from 10 a.m. to midnight. Tutor.com will also help with creating a resume, both design and content, as well as filling out job applications.

The professional educators available through Tutor.com won’t give or tell students the answers, but they will instruct them on how to attain the correct answers.

“Many parents haven’t used algebra or calculus since they were in high school. Elementary school students are learning these subjects and more at a much earlier age than just a decade ago. Trying to help your child with subject matter that you don’t know yourself is a daunting task and best left to the professionals. But when the teacher is not available or it’s late at night and the homework assignment is due tomorrow and the student is stuck, where can they turn? They can turn to Tutor.com,” said Barry KuKes, marketing specialist with the Volusia County Public Library.

To take advantage of this fantastic resource and many others, all that is needed is a Volusia County Public Library card, which is free. Students can access the Tutor.com website from their laptop and do not have to be inside a library location.

“If you have never hired a private tutor to assist your children, you may not be aware that the hourly cost is about $120 an hour. If you don’t have a library card,Tutor.com will cost around $40 an hour, and that is the least expensive online tutor program available. Other online services are as much as $90 an hour,” said KuKes.

If you do not have a library card, visit your local Volusia County Public Library branch to get yours today. For branch locations, visit https://volusialibrary.org/VCPLbranches.html.
