Volusia County Thanksgiving Holiday Closures and Waste Collection Schedule

In observance of Thanksgiving, all Volusia County offices, including branches of the Volusia County Public Library, will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. All library branches will also close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Regular operating hours for all County offices will resume on Monday, Dec. 2. Library branches normally open on Saturdays and/or Sundays will reopen accordingly over the weekend.
There will be no garbage, recycling, bulk waste, or yard waste collection in unincorporated Volusia County on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28. A make-up day is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30. Residents with a regular Thursday collection should place items at the curb by 6 a.m. on Saturday. Regular service will proceed as scheduled on Friday, Nov. 29. Residents living within incorporated cities should contact their city government for information about holiday collection schedules.
The Tomoka Landfill, 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, Port Orange, will close at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and remain closed on Thanksgiving Day. It will reopen on Friday, Nov. 29, and will then continue operating daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice.
The West Volusia Transfer Station, 3151 E. New York Ave., DeLand, will close at its standard time of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, remain closed on Thanksgiving Day, and reopen on Friday, Nov. 29, with regular hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Additionally, the County's five debris drop-off sites listed below will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, remain closed on Thanksgiving Day, and reopen on Friday, Nov. 29, with their standard hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily:
