Volunteers Needed for Post-July 4th Cleanup
Posted On: June 26, 2025
The party's over, but the cleanup is just beginning. Volusia County is calling on environmental champions and community-minded residents to roll up their sleeves for the Keep Volusia Beautiful Post-Independence Day Cleanup from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at Winterhaven Park, 4589 S. Atlantic Ave., Ponce Inlet.
Why Your Help Matters
Every July 4th, thousands of visitors flock to our pristine coastline to celebrate America's independence. While we love sharing our beautiful beaches with fellow patriots, the aftermath often leaves behind a troubling trail of litter that threatens our marine ecosystem and diminishes the natural splendor that makes Volusia County a treasure of Florida's coast.
Family-Friendly Environmental Action
This hands-on environmental action is perfect for individuals, families, and groups looking to make a tangible impact in just two hours. The event is part of Volusia County's year-round Keep Volusia Beautiful initiative, which has mobilized hundreds of volunteers to protect our cherished shorelines throughout the year. It's an excellent opportunity for parents to teach children about environmental responsibility while spending quality time outdoors.
All supplies provided include:
- Collection buckets and bags
- Litter grabbers and gloves
- Cleanup tools and equipment
- Refreshments and snacks
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothes suitable for beach work
