Posted On: September 7, 2025
We're excited to welcome Gus Zambrano as our new Assistant County Manager, effective Aug. 25. With nearly three decades of local government leadership experience, Zambrano brings exceptional expertise to benefit our community and county employees.
Zambrano will work closely with County Manager George Recktenwald on critical special projects, including the Transform386 initiative – managing over $400 million in federal funding for Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Milton recovery efforts.
"Gus has been a transformational leader for 27 years," Recktenwald told the Volusia County Council. "His proven executive expertise and track record of delivering results while building stronger, more resilient communities makes him ideal for helping us achieve our ambitious goals."
Zambrano's public sector career began in 1998 with the Town of Davie. His strategic leadership led to director roles in Miramar, where he delivered over 7,000 new jobs and $250 million in capital investment. Most recently, as Assistant City Manager in Hollywood, Florida, he successfully managed a $600 million five-year capital improvement program.
Zambrano holds a master's degree in urban planning from McGill University and is certified with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Please join us in welcoming him to the Volusia County family!
