VoTran Celebrates 50 Years of Connecting Volusia County

Posted On: October 2, 2025

Half a century of service deserves a celebration – and VoTran delivered on Sept. 19 with a milestone event at its South Daytona headquarters. The golden anniversary celebration honored five decades of innovation, community connection, and dedicated public service.

The festivities unveiled VoTran's fresh brand identity, including updated logos for VoTran and VoRide, plus the transformation of Votran Gold into VoAccess – reflecting the system's modern, accessible approach to transit.

But the day's most inspiring moment belonged to Bernard Huggins, a bus operator whose remarkable 50-year career spans VoTran's entire history. Imagine that – serving riders through five decades of change, growth, and transformation! Recently named Bus Operator of the Year by the Florida Public Transit Association, Huggins now graces VoTran's newest bus wrap alongside the refreshed logo, a fitting tribute to his extraordinary dedication.

From its humble beginnings to today's integrated transit network, VoTran has continuously evolved to serve our community better. Fixed routes and VoRide microtransit now weave throughout Volusia County, connecting seamlessly with SunRail stations in DeBary and DeLand. This regional network serves everyone – commuters getting to work, students heading to class, families running errands, and tourists exploring our beautiful county.

As VoTran rolls into its next chapter, one thing remains constant: its commitment to keeping Volusia County connected, competitive, and moving forward.
