Veterans Services Staff Gears Up for Annual Stand Down
Posted On: February 23, 2026
The Veterans Services Division is working hard to bring together an exceptional array of resources for Volusia County's veteran community at its annual Veterans Stand Down, set for March 20-21 at The Center at Deltona, 1640 Dr. MLK Blvd., Deltona. The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.
Staff has been coordinating with multiple agencies to create a one-stop resource hub for veterans experiencing homelessness or needing help navigating VA benefits. Attendees can access clothing and food giveaways, employment and career resources, free haircuts, health and wellness screenings, homelessness assistance, legal assistance, and VA claims help — all under one roof.
The Veterans Benefits Administration will bring its Mobile Compensation and Pension Exam Unit to the event. Veterans with pending claims can complete their medical exams on-site, potentially speeding up decisions on their claims without the hassle of scheduling separate appointments.
Outside the center, traveling replicas of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and the Global War on Terror Wall will be on display, offering a meaningful and reflective experience for attendees.
The Stand Down is open to veterans and their families. For more information, contact Veterans Services Director Scott Olson.
A note of appreciation to the Veterans Services team for their dedication in organizing this important community event — your hard work makes a real difference in the lives of those who served.
