365 days of fun with new annual beach passes
Posted On: November 27, 2019
Volusia County is changing the way annual beach passes are sold. Effective immediately, annual beach passes will be valid for 365 days from the purchase date, rather than for the calendar year. This change ensures pass holders are receiving the full value of their annual pass. Current annual pass holders will also benefit, as passes purchased on or after Jan. 1, 2019, are valid for 365 days.
“We know our beaches are a popular destination year-round, and we’re always working to make them easily accessible for residents and visitors,” said Jessica Winterwerp, director of the Volusia County Coastal Division. “We listened to feedback and recognized that converting our pass sales from a calendar year to 365 days was important to our beachgoers. While it took a little time and logistics, we worked with our toll contract, Faneuil, to make the transition and are excited to roll it out for the new year. We hope this improves efficiency at the toll booths at the beginning of the year, as pass renewals will be spread out over 365 days and not all forced to renew after Dec. 31.”
If an annual pass holder visits the beach or inlet park within 30 days of their current pass expiring, the toll attendant will be able to provide notice on when the pass is planned to expire. The pass holder will have the option of renewing their pass on the spot or the next time they visit the beach or inlet park.
