Brush up on World War II at DeBary Hall
Posted On: February 16, 2020
The year 1944 saw the beginning of the end of World War II. The German and Japanese armies crumbled around the world as the United States unleashed its economic and military might by taking Rome and key island strongholds in the Pacific, assaulting Fortress Europe, and fighting its way across four countries toward the heartland of Nazism.
Ryan Lowry, owner of Patriot Preservation, will explain how America helped seal the fate of the Axis Powers at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd., DeBary.
Lowry has a bachelor’s degree in Mandarin Chinese Language from the University of Florida and is completing a master’s degree in history from American Military University.
Patriot Preservation, which Lowry founded in 2017, is dedicated to telling the stories of individuals through artifacts, interactive audio programs, historical consulting, and providing research tools for amateur and professional historians alike. Lowry’s collection has grown to nearly 9,000 pieces, including diaries, flags, helmets and letters.
His presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series, which is sponsored by the Friends of DeBary Hall and Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
