DeBary Hall hosts Dolley Madison portrayal
Posted On: February 16, 2020
Retired teacher Nancy Schleicher will portray Dolley Madison during a one-woman show at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd., DeBary.
The charismatic First Lady spearheaded bipartisan cooperation in the early 19th century and did much to define the role of the president’s spouse. She is credited with saving George Washington’s portrait when the British set fire to the White House during the War of 1812
Schleicher, a Deltona teacher for 39 years, received a master’s degree in education from Stetson University. She served four years as a Deltona city commissioner and is the newest addition to the city’s Wall of Fame.
Her presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series, which is sponsored by the Friends of DeBary Hall and Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
Reservations are not required. For more information, call Education Coordinator Lisa Perez at 386-668-3840.
