Life of Agatha Christie topic of talk at Deltona Library

Considered the “Queen of Crime” and the best-selling novelist of all time, the life and incredible career of Agatha Christie will be the subject of a lecture at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 at the Deltona Regional Library.

The guest speaker will be retired teacher and literary lecturer Irene Curran.

An English author, Christie wrote 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections and is best known for her works that revolve around fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. It’s estimated that Christie’s works have resulted in the sale of 2 billion books. A great number of her stories have been turned into movie adaptations, including Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile and Witness for the Prosecution. Christie died in 1976 at the age of 85.

A retired language arts teacher and literary lecturer, Curran travels to libraries, nursing homes and senior centers to give speeches on various authors and historical figures.
