Tattoos in society explored during lecture at Port Orange Library

Posted On: March 10, 2020

Tattooing has been practiced around the world for thousands of years. It has been traced all the way back to the geometric line-work found on the 5,000-year-old mummy of Otzi the Iceman and is as popular as ever today as a form of self-expression.

On Thursday, March 26 at 2 p.m., Colin MacFarlane from Stetson University will speak at the Port Orange Regional Library about the art of tattooing – examining different styles, methods and techniques while delving into body art and its place in various cultures and subcultures. MacFarlane serves as Stetson’s director of assessment and operational effectiveness.

The library is located at 1005 City Center Circle. More information can be obtained by calling the library at 386-322-5152.
