Emergency medical services topic of Friday COVID-19 panel discussion

Posted On: May 21, 2020

While safer-at-home orders have been lifted and reopening is under way, fear of COVID-19 still might be keeping people from seeking care at hospitals and emergency rooms. For those who need emergency diagnostic testing or medical care, delaying treatment could have dangerous – even fatal – consequences.

Emergency medical care in the age of COVID-19 will be the topic of this Friday’s (May 22) live panel discussion hosted by Volusia County government. Friday’s event will start at 10 a.m. Panelists will include the following:

  • Dr. Vito Petrozzino, Assistant Medical Director, Emergency Services; Chief of Medicine, AdventHealth - Daytona Beach
  • Dr. Peter Springer, Volusia County Operational Medical Director
  • Dr. Stephen Viel, Medical Director, Emergency Services, Halifax Health

The panel discussion will be broadcast live on Volusia County Emergency Management’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/VolusiaCountyEmergencyManagement. The news media is welcome to attend and participate in the question-and-answer session. For members of the news media who wish to attend, the event will take place at the Volusia County Emergency Operations Center, 3825 Tiger Bay Road, Daytona Beach.
