Master gardeners plan plant sales
Posted On: June 15, 2020
In yet another sign of the times, the annual Master Gardener Plant Faire has been trimmed down and separated into three smaller sales that allow for social distancing – for the people, not the plants.
Locals can purchase trees and iris plants during the first sale, which will be held by appointment only from 8:45 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 23, at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.
Prices range from $2 to $15 each. A list of plants and prices is available at http://plantsales2020.volusiamg.org. To schedule an appointment and place your order, call the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension at 386-822-5778 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 16, 17 or 18. Each appointment will be limited to two people. Purchases may be made with cash or check only, with checks made out to the University of Florida.
Future plant sales include:
- July 7: bromeliads, begonias, succulents and ginger
- July 18: shrubs, perennials, butterfly plants and antique roses
Proceeds will support the county’s Master Gardener Program. Master gardeners receive horticultural training from the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension and volunteer their time to answer questions and teach residents about gardening and landscaping.
