Ribbon cutting set for public works facility

Posted On: December 1, 2020

Volusia County’s Public Works department will celebrate the opening of its new Northeast Public Works Services Facility with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the southeast corner of U.S. 92 and Colin Kelly Avenue.

The newly constructed $11.7 million facility will serve as the headquarters for the Road and Bridge Division's northeast maintenance operations as well as the Traffic Engineering Division's services and signal maintenance operations.

As a move from obsolete and flood-prone facilities of the past, this new facility offers greater optimization for services and a more centralized location to serve Volusia County residents. The facility was constructed to withstand hurricane force winds, allowing staff to remain at the location during extreme weather events. RSVP to David Hunt at dhunt@volusia.org or 386-822-5062, ext. 12690.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, attendance will be limited. The ceremony will be streamed live on the County of Volusia Facebook page at Facebook.com/CountyofVolusia.
