Public meeting to address Rail Trail

Volusia County staff will accept public comments about the East Central Florida Regional Rail Trail management plan update from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Osteen Civic Center, 165 New Smyrna Blvd., Osteen.

The 50.8-mile trail corridor, which is still under construction, stretches from Enterprise in southwest Volusia County to Titusville in northern Brevard County with an additional spur from Maytown to Edgewater. The two counties partnered on the trail to provide for non-motorized transportation, outdoor recreational activities, economic development and a natural Florida experience. It represents the most extensive rail corridor purchase in Florida and is part of the 260-mile St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop and the 250-mile Coast-to-Coast Trail.
