Florida author Mark Lane will talk about his book "Roaring Reptiles, Bountiful Citrus and Neon Pies: An Unofficial Guide to Florida’s Official Symbols” at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd., DeBary.

Mark Lane is a columnist and feature writer for the Daytona Beach News-Journal. His 19 essays in Roaring Reptiles attempt to decode a unique niche in Florida legislature – the signing of state symbols into law – for the puzzled newcomer and bemused local alike.
