Governor expands COVID-19 vaccine eligibility

On Monday, March 1, Governor Ron DeSantis issued executive order 21-47, which expands eligibility criteria for COVID-19 vaccines. To view the order in its entirety, visit www.flgov.com/2021-executive-orders/.
Per the order, effective today, March 3, the following groups are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine:
• Long-term care facility residents and staff;
• Persons 65 years of age and older;
• Health care personnel with direct patient contact;
• K-12 school employees 50 years of age and older;
• Sworn law enforcement officers 50 years of age and older; and
• Firefighters 50 years of age and older.
The state registration system, which is used for appointments at the Volusia County Fairgrounds, will schedule individuals based upon the updated criteria.
Individuals who meet the above criteria may preregister for a vaccine appointment at the Volusia County Fairgrounds at myvaccine.fl.gov or 866-201-7314. Once preregistered, individuals will receive a call when vaccine appointments become available. Upon arrival, individuals must provide proof of Florida residency, a state-issued ID and, for those who qualify based on employment, proof of said employment through a work ID or pay stub.
