UPDATES: COVID-19 vaccine updates

Eligibility requirements
Governor DeSantis announced today, March 19, that effective Monday, March 22, the age requirement for eligibility for a COVID-19 vaccine will lower to 50 years of age. To review the executive order, visit https://www.flgov.com/2021-executive-orders/.
As of March 22, the following groups are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at the Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3150 E. New York Ave, DeLand:
• Long-term care facility residents (accompanied by their guardian, if applicable) and staff;
• persons 50 years of age and older;
• health care personnel with direct patient contact; and
• persons determined by a physician to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 (form required).
The state registration system, which is used for appointments at the Volusia County Fairgrounds, will schedule individuals based upon the updated criteria. Appointments continue to be required; to preregister for an appointment, sign up at myvaccine.fl.gov/.
Second dose scheduling at the Volusia County Fairgrounds site
Individuals who receive their first dose COVID-19 vaccine at the Volusia County Fairgrounds should return to the same location on the date written on the back of their vaccination card to receive their second dose. Individuals should arrive at the same time as their first-dose appointment. For questions, call the Volusia County Citizens Information Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 866-345-0345.
Medicaid Transportation for COVID-19 vaccinations
Florida Medicaid is providing free transportation to receive a vaccine for qualifying individuals with Medicaid. After receiving an appointment for a vaccine, individuals should call their plan provider and request the name and telephone number for their transportation service. Individuals not in a health plan may call 1-877-254-1055 to be connected with a transportation service. For additional information, individuals should contact their Medicaid plan or call the Medicaid Helpline at 1-877-254-1055.
Vaccines for homebound individuals
Homebound individuals in need of a COVID-19 vaccine should complete a survey at https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/981e561ca7f84b33a6ddcb3fa61cd575. After completing the survey, the applicant’s information will be assigned to a strike team, who will contact the individual to schedule a time for vaccination.
