NSB library offers programs for kids

Children can participate in free programs and develop a lifelong love of reading at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.
Upcoming programs include:
- Tales with Tails: 3 p.m. the third Monday of each month starting Aug. 16. This interactive reading program designed is for children up to age 12. Children practice basic reading aloud skills by pairing up with a specially trained, volunteer dog. Reservations for 15-minute reading sessions are required; call 386-424-2910, option 3. Books are provided, but children can bring their favorite story if they wish.
- Friday Crafternoons: All day every Friday starting Aug. 20. Children up to age 12 can stop by the children’s room to make crafts. Supplies are limited.
- Kids STREAM: 3:30 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month starting Aug. 26. Kids ages 5-12 can take part in hands-on activities related to science, technology, reading, engineering, art and math.
The library is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
