Docent sheds light on famous lighthouses

Through photographs and discussion, John Mann will lead a 3,000-year journey to some of the world’s most noteworthy lighthouses at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.

An inveterate pharologist (one who studies lighthouses,) Mann is the lead docent at the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse. He will explain how historic lighthouses contributed to the Ponce Inlet landmark’s successful service as a sentinel of the sea.
