County Council plans water quality workshop

The Volusia County Council will host a water quality workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the county council chambers of the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Center, 123 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand.
Public Works Director Ben Bartlett, Environmental Management Director Ginger Adair, and Water Resources and Utilities Director Mike Ulrich will discuss the regulatory aspects of water quality protection and provide a brief description of the priority water bodies in the county and a history of Volusia County efforts to protect and restore water quality. They will also give an on the adopted 2015 Water Quality Plan and lead a discussion of legislation and emerging issues related to water quality.
Additionally, Dr. Pierce Jones, director and founding member of the University of Florida's Program for Resource Efficient Communities, will discuss low impact development and water quality
