Wildflowers and native plants of Florida: 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3. Join Master Gardener Howard Jeffries as he discusses incorporating wildflowers, native plants, Florida-friendly plants and colorful blossoms in your landscape during this free presentation.
Nature in Central Florida: 4 p.m. Thursday, March 3. Join Master Naturalist Roger Fulton as he provides insight into Sherman's fox squirrel, the Florida scrub jay, a coastal strand with unique plant life, and a host of other great places to enjoy nature in Central Florida during this free presentation.
Story time at DeBary Hall: 9:30 a.m. Fridays, March 4 and 18: Children are invited to Kids Corner, a free, outdoor story time featuring stories, songs and activities. The program is designed for preschoolers, but children of all ages are welcome.
Get stepping with line dancing lessons: 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 10 and 24: Line dancing is a great way to exercise your mind and body. Join DeBary Hall staff for a fun evening full of learning beginner line dances to various music genres. There is a $3 charge for each class.
Historical bike tour along the Spring-to-Spring Trail: 9 a.m. Thursday, March 17: Take a free, guided bike tour from Lake Beresford Park, 2100 Fatio Road, DeLand to Blue Spring State Park and back. Learn about the area's local history, habitats, and organisms while enjoying one of Volusia County's many showcase trail segments. The ride will include several stops, including Blue Spring State Park. There will be a $2 fee for entry into the park. Participants must bring a bicycle and helmet. Sunscreen, snacks and bottled water are recommended. Children over 12 are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required
The American experience in World War II: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19. Get down in the foxholes and experience the personal stories of World War II survivors. During this immersive free presentation, Ryan Lowry, owner of Patriot Preservation, will present objects and discuss their significance from the battles of Midway, Iwo Jima, Normandy and many more. This presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series sponsored by Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
Meet the author Tea and luncheon: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26: Join local author Marcia Meara for a reading from her latest book, "The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4". An elegant tea with sandwiches and desserts will be served, and a prize drawing will be held. A variety of Meara's custom blend teas, each named for a character in one of her novels, will also be served. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased by Friday, March 18; seating is limited. Registration is required for this event.
All events will take place at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd, except the historic bike tour along the Spring-to-Spring Trail. Registration is requested for all programs; call 386-668-3840 or email lperez@volusia.org to sign up.
