Learn about Florida’s Jewish history at the DeLand library
Posted On: May 14, 2022
In 1763, three Jewish families settled in Pensacola, becoming the first confirmed Jewish residents in Florida. Today, more than 650,000 Jews live in the Sunshine State, comprising 3% of the state’s population. But what did the Jewish community look like in the interim?
Sam Friedman will provide an overview of the rich history of Florida’s Jews at noon Friday, May 27, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.
Friedman is the chief development officer for Shalom Orlando and former director of Hillel at Stetson University.
Registration is not required. For more information, call the library at 386-822-6430.
